Basijs, youths and teachers
Everyday life in Iranian Kurdistan and Iran is filled with oppression, insult and violence. People from all spheres of life are subjected to the regimes systematic violence and there is no room for any form of dissent. Unfortunately little of the people of Kurdistan´s everyday suffering is mentioned in western media, due to that I will write short summaries of news published in Kurdish and Persian here on the blog in order to bring part of the Kurdish people and other nationalities in Iran´s struggle to the reader’s attention.
Recent events:
Kurdistanmedia reports that two men in the Kurdish city of Saghez were arrested yesterday. The two men’s names are Zana Ardalan and Mohammed Azizi. Random arrests in Kurdistan is a common event, the regime can arrest you for expressing your view on a specific matter or they could just suspect you because of the cloths that you are wearing. The Basij and the Revolutionary Guard targets anyone that it thinks doesn’t apply to the Islamic order, Kurds are subjected to this kind of random arrests on a daily bases.
In another incident a group of Iranian Basij´s (the regimes paramilitary forces) assaulted two Kurdish men in the Kurdish city of Rawanser. The Basijis stoped the two men’s car and assaulted them for no apparent reason; both of the men are badly injured. The two men’s names are Ali Weledi and Mohsein Leshkeri. Part of the regimes policy to control the population, especially Kurds, is to let the Basij physically assault people in order to crate an atmosphere of fear. The Basij acts like the different pressure groups/gangs did in China during the Cultural Revolution. They insult, threaten and assault indiscriminately, targeting everyone, especially the youths.
Also in the news:
According to Iran’s Teachers Union (Kanoone Senfie Moallemane Iran) several teachers were arrested yesterday in front of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) in Tehran. The teachers had gathered in front of the Majlis to protest against the education system in Iran and the lack of recourses available to them. According to the Teachers Union several of the teachers that was arrested have worked as teachers between 8 to 10 years.
